Pastoral Ministry Leader (Part-Time)

Location: Mount Pleasant Church, Northampton. Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, located in Northampton, is a welcoming, evangelical Christian community committed to helping people commit to and grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ. We are a large and growing Baptist church and a member of the Baptist Union of Great Britain. We are seeking a part-time Pastoral Ministry Leader to join our Leadership Team and help us carry forward our mission and vision.

Role Overview


The Pastoral Ministry Leader will work closely with the Senior Pastor and wider Leadership Team to:
  • Provide strategic oversight and coordination of pastoral care across MPBC.
  • Lead and support our network of pastoral care volunteers and life groups.
  • Offer teaching, discipling, and training to help individuals grow from new faith to spiritual maturity.
  • Contribute to welcoming and integrating new members into church life.
  • Support the church's outreach by encouraging holistic care that includes evangelistic engagement.
  • Be an active presence during Sunday services, providing support, prayer, and hospitality.
  • Participate in church leadership activities and contribute to a collaborative staff team.


Person Specification


Essential Criteria:

  • A committed Christian whose faith aligns with the Evangelical and Baptist ethos of MPBC (Occupational Requirement applies under Schedule 9 of the Equality Act 2010).
  • Demonstrated experience of leadership in a church or ministry context.
  • Strong pastoral and interpersonal skills with a compassionate and servant-hearted approach.
  • Confident communicator able to encourage, teach, and mobilise others.
  • Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.


Desirable:

  • Additional relevant skills (e.g. counselling, worship, youth work) that may support the wider ministry of the church.

Terms of Appointment

  • The role is part-time: up to 2 days per week (including one half day for Sunday services).
  • Salary: up to £10,300 per annum, depending on experience.
  • The successful applicant will be subject to an enhanced DBS check in accordance with our safeguarding policy.

Youth and Children’s Worker

Full Time (£28,000-£30,000)


Location: High Street Baptist Church, Tring

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Youth and Children’s worker to help us grow this established ministry area. This role will include exciting new opportunities to develop schools work, as well as build upon our existing midweek community-focused children’s groups, and Sunday junior church programme.

You will be someone with relevant training and experience:
  • to bring a sense of innovation into this ministry area in light of the needs developing in our church and local community; 
  • to help envision, equip and grow our team of volunteers; 
  • to facilitate mentoring of our young people and children as an authentic role model of the Christian faith to those within and outside of the church; 
  • with strong organisation, IT and communication skills; and
  • will actively participate in the life of the church with a passion to further the kingdom of God.
We are a mid-size multi-generational church situated in the beautiful Hertfordshire town of Tring. Being the first Baptist church in the UK to achieve a Gold Eco-Church award through the ARocha scheme we have a heart for holistic, whole-life discipleship and for church to be a place that is welcoming and accessible to all.

Deputy Lead Chaplain, University of Bedfordshire


UBECT Logo AK v2The University of Bedfordshire Ecumenical Chaplaincy Trust (UBECT) seeks to appoint a Deputy Lead Chaplain to co-ordinate and oversee the development of a vibrant Chaplaincy for the University, working closely with its Community and Faith team, Student Services and People and Culture on initiatives to support student and staff well-being.
 
The role is based primarily in Bedford and Luton, but will involve travel to other University locations.
 
We seek a committed Christian of any denomination who
  • Has experience in a Christian ministry, lay or ordained.
  • Is committed to an ecumenical and multi-faith (and no faith) approach, with a solid understanding of other faiths and traditions.
  • Has strong communication, pastoral and leadership skills.
  • Is confident, empathetic, self-motivated and reliable, including when working under pressure.
  • Has theological and pastoral training or experience.
  • Will bring theological insight to contribute to the life of the University 
We will encourage and support the training and continuing professional development of the successful applicant.
 
Salary:                                    Equivalent full-time rate £27,500 (subject to review)
                                                (~ £22,000 for 30 hours per week spread over five days).

Welcome to the website of The Central Baptist Association. We look after about 150 Baptist churches across Northamptonshire, Hertfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Bedfordshire, including Milton Keynes.  If you are looking to find a specific church near you then please click here.

Who we are

We have a team of four Regional Ministers, led by Lisa Kerry, alongside Mary Moody, Nathan Toseland and Andrew Openshaw. Andrew is also the association secretary. Our moderator is Maureen Hider and our treasurer is Roy Farrant. Jane Day is the course tutor for The Learning Collective.

What we do

We support ministers and churches by 'walking together in ministry and mission'. This includes providing pastoral care for ministers, advice to churches, guiding the settlement process, encouraging churches in their mission, providing training opportunities, encouraging networking, talking ecumenically, and offering small grants.
